For a lot of couples, a pet genuinely feels like part of the relationship — so it's no surprise this comes up often. The short answer is: yes, we're happy to include your dog, with a few practical things worth thinking through first.
Consider your dog's temperament honestly
A calm, well-socialized dog who's comfortable around new people and new environments will make the session easier and more enjoyable. A dog who gets anxious, reactive, or overly excited in unfamiliar outdoor spaces might make things more stressful than fun — for both you and your dog.
Bring a second handler if possible
Having a friend or family member hold the leash between shots (staying just out of frame) means you and your partner aren't constantly managing the dog and can focus on the photos themselves. This makes a bigger difference than people expect.
Plan for a shorter dog portion
Most couples don't want their dog in every single photo — more commonly, we'll shoot 15–20 minutes with the dog included, then continue the rest of the session without them. This keeps things manageable and avoids an overtired or restless pet halfway through.
Pick a location with dogs in mind
Not every location allows pets, and some conservation areas have specific leash rules. Let us know in advance if you're planning to bring your dog so we can confirm the location works and plan accordingly.
Bring treats and a favourite toy
A treat or a squeaky toy held near the camera is one of the most reliable ways to get a dog looking in the right direction — and often produces some of the funniest, most genuine photos of the whole session.
