How Much Do Engagement Photos Cost? A Real Pricing Breakdown

Engagement photography pricing can feel confusing because it varies a lot from photographer to photographer, without always being clear why. Here's a straightforward look at what actually drives the cost, so you can compare options with a clearer picture of what you're paying for.

Session length

Longer sessions generally cost more, for the obvious reason that they take more of the photographer's time — both during the shoot and afterward, editing a larger number of photos. A 30–45 minute mini session and a 2-hour, multi-location session are genuinely different products, not just different price points on the same thing.

Number of locations

A single-location session keeps things simple and efficient. Adding a second or third location usually means more driving time, more setup time, and more overall time on the clock — which is reflected in the price.

Number of edited photos delivered

Every photographer edits differently, and a "full gallery" from one photographer might mean 30 photos, while another delivers 80. This is one of the biggest, and most overlooked, differences between packages — always check how many finished images you're actually getting.

What's included beyond the shoot itself

Some packages include prints, an outfit consultation, a second photographer, or use of the images for a set period versus full usage rights. These extras can meaningfully change the value of a package even when the base price looks similar to a competitor's.

Experience and demand

Like most services, pricing also reflects a photographer's experience level and how in-demand their calendar is. This isn't the only thing that matters, but it's part of why prices vary so much across the industry.

What we offer

We keep our packages straightforward — The Essentials, The Signature, and The Luxe — each clearly listing session length, number of locations, and how many edited photos you'll receive, so there's no guessing involved. You can see current pricing and what's included in each on our Pricing page, or reach out if you'd like help figuring out which one fits what you're picturing.
