Session length is one of the more concrete questions couples ask, and it deserves a concrete answer. Here's a realistic breakdown of how that time typically gets used, based on the length of session you book.
The first 10–15 minutes: settling in
Almost every session starts a little awkward, and that's completely normal. We usually spend the first stretch with lighter, movement-based prompts — walking, talking, simple interactions — to help you both relax before anything more posed.
The middle stretch: the bulk of your gallery
This is where most of your final images come from — a mix of directed poses and candid, in-between moments, moving through your chosen location(s) as the light changes.
Wardrobe changes, if planned
If you're bringing a second outfit, budget 10–15 minutes for the change itself, plus any travel time if it happens at a different spot within your location.
Travel time between locations
If your package includes multiple locations, factor in real driving or walking time between them — this is often underestimated and can eat into shooting time if not planned for.
Typical session lengths and what they cover
A shorter session (around 30–45 minutes) usually covers a single location with time for a handful of different setups and poses. A longer session (90 minutes to 2 hours) allows for multiple locations, an outfit change, and a much wider variety of shots — walking, posed, candid, and detail shots all included.
What affects the pace on the day
Weather, how quickly you both warm up in front of the camera, and how much walking is involved between spots can all shift the pace slightly. We build in some flexibility rather than rushing through a rigid shot list.
